The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is an Australian Government program that provides access to up to $1000 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years, covering most basic general dental services (but not specialist services like orthodontics or services provided under general anaesthetic.) You don’t need to register your child for the CDBS. Families and teenagers will be advised by the Department of Human Services if they are eligible.
Who is Eligible?
You don’t need to apply or register for CDBS. If your child is eligible, you should have received a letter from the government. In general, your kids can be eligible for CDBS when –
- They are eligible for Medicare
- They are between 2 and 17 years old for at least 1 day that year
- You or they get an eligible payment at least once that year. (Click here to find more information on eligible payment )
Up to $1,000 over 2 calendar years for basic dental services under CDBS. The services we will cover include:
- Check-ups & Cleaning
- Fissure sealing

There are some restrictions for basic dental services. You should check with us if there are any item or time restrictions before starting your treatment.
